Scholarships & Opportunities

Funding your studies in Turkey can combine government scholarships, university awards, and part-time opportunities. Camturk helps members discover credible paths and learn from peers who succeeded — we do not guarantee any award. Always verify deadlines on official websites.

Overview

Scholarship landscapes change every academic year. Start with official portals, then complement with your university's international office and Camturk information sessions where alumni share application timelines and interview experiences.

Türkiye Bursları (YTB)

The Türkiye Scholarships programme is administered by the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB). It typically covers tuition, health insurance, a monthly stipend, and Turkish language preparation for selected candidates.

Who applies

International students including Cameroonians, usually for bachelor's, master's, or PhD levels. Criteria vary by cycle — check nationality-specific notes.

How to prepare

Strong academic record, motivation letter, references, and timely online application on turkiyeburslari.gov.tr. Prepare for possible interview.

After selection

YTB coordinates placement, visa support, and orientation. Stay responsive to e-mails — missed steps can delay arrival.

University scholarships & discounts

Many Turkish universities offer partial tuition waivers for high GPA applicants, athletes, or students in specific faculties. Ask the International Office and Student Affairs at admission — some awards are not advertised online.

  • Merit scholarships after first-year GPA results
  • Need-based support via social services (sosyal yardım)
  • Department-specific awards for engineering, medicine, etc.
  • Sibling or early-payment discounts (verify in contract)

Research & graduate funding

Graduate students should explore supervisor-linked projects, university research funds, and national agencies. Building a relationship with a professor who knows your work is often the first step.

  • Research assistant (ARŞGIR / project) positions in labs
  • University graduate school scholarships
  • External calls announced on faculty notice boards

Camturk opportunities board

Beyond classical scholarships, Camturk lists internships, volunteer leadership roles, and partner opportunities on our Opportunities page. These build your CV and network in Turkey — valuable even when they are not full scholarships.

  • Chapter coordinator and event staff roles
  • Camturk Business partner internships
  • Mentoring programmes for newcomers

Application tips

  1. Calendar everything. YTB and university deadlines differ — use a shared spreadsheet.
  2. Tailor motivation letters. Explain why Turkey and how you will contribute to the community.
  3. Proofread in English or Turkish with a mentor; avoid generic copied essays.
  4. Prepare documents early — transcripts, passports, language certificates.
  5. Attend Camturk prep sessions before major intakes when announced.
